ONCE YOUR SHIPMENT ARRIVES:
We always select the best plants available for your order, and pack
them with great care, and guarantee that they will arrive in good
condition. At this point they become your property and we cannot
guarantee their future productivity, as plants are perishable and
they are not in our care. Following our planting and cultural
instructions will greatly enhance your success with clematis. If a
problem develops, please let us know so that we can help. They are a
LOT tougher than you think and problems can usually be diagnosed and
remedied easily. If something happens during shipping, please call
us immediately and we will do our best to ease your trauma. Damaged
and insured shipments will be replaced, but we do require that the
order be sent back. Please do not refuse or return any shipment
without notifying us by phone first. All returns/damaged shipments
must be reported within 48 hours of receipt.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please note that some plants haven’t been hardened off yet
when they are shipped in early spring, and we therefore strongly
recommend that they not be planted out directly but rather be given
an extra dose of TLC as outlined in our planting instructions which
accompany your order. In general, we do not consider that they are
mature enough to plant out directly—their root systems are just not
big enough to cope with the hurly-burly of border life, in
particular with early cold and wet ground, not to mention the
miscellaneous creatures seeking a Tasty Treat. They will do much
better if you pot them up and grow them on
for a few months and then plant them out when the ground is warmer
and their root systems are more established. If you have ordered
older (3 & 4 yr.) plants, those which have wintered over outside
here in The Frozen North may be shipped dormant or semi-dormant, so
please do not be alarmed at their leafless and unprepossessing
state! We always make sure there are live buds prior to shipment.
These plants are ready to be planted out in the garden.
PRICES:
3 yr. $ 22.00
4 yr. $ 30.00
Special pricing applies to patented varieties and certain others,
and is so stated in the catalogue. Prices are subject to change
without notice.
Placing an order with Completely Clematis implies acceptance to our
terms and conditions which are outlined here.
POT SIZE AND PLANT AGE:
Our plants are under-potted, that is we use the smallest possible
container for each age and variety in order to save space here at
the nursery. It also helps save on shipping costs and space in the
nursery, as well as to encourage healthy growth we under-pot our
plants. Your order may contain plants of the same age in sleeves and
in pots—this was done to accommodate the different growth rates of
different varieties.
Please bear in mind that our growing season here in the Northeast is
abbreviated, with the result that our plants may not achieve the
size in the same length of time that they would in a warmer climate,
nor do we pork them up with fertilizer to get a lot of top growth
that can’t be sustained by the roots. Also, some varieties are
slower starting than others, and some are just more vigorous in
general, so plants which are the same age may not necessarily
exhibit the same growth.
